Grading of Record Surfaces:
NEW SEALED = A Record that is new and still sealed
EXC = A record with no marks or scratches on the playing surface
EXC- = A record with very few lite* marks on the playing surface
VG = A record with many lite* marks on the playing surface
VG- = A record with many lite* marks and/or some large** marks on the playing surface
FAIR = A record with many lite* marks and/or many large** marks AND possibly some deep marks on the playing surface
POOR = A record with many scratches on the surface which may or may not cause skipping. Generally for that must have hard to find record.
*Lite marks are small lite marks that are not deep or may not be easily visible.
**Large Marks are usually larger more visible marks and may be considered scratches.
NOTE: I do not grade records on how they play. Sometimes when records are pressed on poor quality vinyl, they may appear to be in mint condition visually but may have noticeable noise or crackling when playing.
Grading of record cover jackets:
EXC = Like new condition with no bends, tears, price stickers or writing
EXC- = May have a very slight tear, bend, price sticker or cut out slit/punch out hole
VG = May have a few tears, bends, price stickers, very lite stains or lite writing
FAIR = May have several tears, bends, stickers or writing
POOR = Similar to FAIR but more pronounced and may include heavy stains, writing or sticker residue
NOTE: I do not grade the paper or plastic sleeves that the record is in. If the record comes in a special cardboard sleeve with artist artwork on it, I will include the grading of it. For 7" records, if the record comes in a picture sleeve I will grade the sleeve. If the record comes in a generic paper sleeve, I will not grade the sleeve but I will note if it is has major wear or tears.
